Featuring 21 Producers and Numerous American Spirits Brands

Orlando, FL – The Distilled Spirits Council said today it is hosting an export promotion at the Duty Free Show of the Americas in Orlando on March 10-12, featuring dozens of American spirits products from 21 distillers.  The project is designed to showcase the products for buyers from over 70 countries who attend the show and convention.

The Duty Free/Travel Retail channel represents as much as 10 percent of global sales for many premium spirits brands and can range as high as 20 percent for some super-premium products. In recent years, distillers have developed many high-end line extensions exclusively for these outlets around the globe, whose consumers are upper income travelers with a taste for luxury products.  According to the IMPACT DATABANK, the top 10 distilled spirits brands in travel retail by volume represent 8.22 million cases, up 6 percent in its latest report for 2012.

“This show represents an extraordinary opportunity to facilitate American spirits exports to over 70 countries in a single venue,” said Council Senior Vice President Frank Coleman.  “We are pleased to be able to feature at our booth many great American whiskeys, along with interesting new products from organic vodkas to a reserve Florida-produced rum.”

The Distilled Spirits Council launched its export promotion program 10 years ago. The Council recently reported that between 2004 and 2013, American distilled spirits exports have surged from $717 million to $1.52 billion.  Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskeys also more than doubled in that time from $494 million to $1.01 billion.

Companies showing their American products at the Distilled Spirits Council booth include Sidney Frank Importing Co., Luxco, Florida Caribbean Distillers, Bloomery Plantation Distillery (WV), Cleveland Whiskey (OH), Hemingway Rum Company (FL), High West Distillery (UT), Hillrock Estate Distillery (NY), House Spirits Distillery (OR), Kōloa Rum Company (HI), Louisiana Spirits (LA), Louisville Distilling Co. (KY), Michter’s Distillery (KY), Philadelphia Distilling (PA), Prohibition Distillery (NY), Rogue Spirits (OR), Santa Fe Spirits (NM) and Vermont Spirits Distilling Co.
