Distilled Spirits Council Partners with Competitive Enterprise Institute on Premiere

I, Whiskey: The Human Spirit, a documentary-style short film that tells the story of how the freedom to innovate brings people together, premiered tonight at a reception sponsored by the Distilled Spirits Council and the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) at the Jack Rose Dining Saloon.

Produced by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, the film interviews whiskey industry entrepreneurs as well as whiskey consumers to illustrate how the history and commerce of whiskey creates a human connection—from the farmers and distillers to restaurant owners, consumers and beyond.

“Whiskey has played a central role in our nation’s history, from the colonial era and George Washington’s distillery through the Whiskey Rebellion, Prohibition and into modern times,” said Distilled Spirits Council President & CEO Kraig R. Naasz. “This American spirit has made an important economic and social contribution to the fabric of our communities and businesses. I, Whiskey captures the entrepreneurial spirit of freedom and cooperation that is the foundation of America’s success.”

The movie is available for viewing on YouTube here. Jack Rose Dining Saloon, which hosted the premiere, features one of the largest selections of whiskeys on the East Coast.
