The Distilled Spirits Council announced today that Amanda Hunter has been named Public Relations Manager on its public affairs and communications team.

In her new position, Hunter will handle media relations and event planning for the organization, which represents the leading producers and marketers of distilled spirits products sold in the United States.

Prior to joining the Council, Hunter was Deputy Director of Communications with the Recording Industry Association of America where she focused on public affairs, media relations and special event planning including the Gold and Platinum Awards program and 2004 Presidential convention parties featuring the Black Eyed Peas, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kid Rock and Isaac Hayes.

In her new role at the Council, Hunter will participate in media relations and special events that focus on spirits trends, industry heritage and providing industry data to the media.  She will also participate in American spirits promotions in emerging markets.

“The Council is thrilled to have someone join our communications team as skilled, professional and experienced in media relations and event planning as Amanda Hunter,” said Distilled Spirits Council Senior Vice President Frank Coleman.
