Site highlights more than 280 distilleries and 20 distillery trails across the U.S.
Celebrate National Tourism Week May 4-10 with Destination Distillery, a site brought to you by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS), that provides consumers an easy way to plan distillery trips across the U.S. while learning about the cultural heritage and history of spirits in America.
Over the past 20 years, there has been a proliferation of small distilleries in cities and towns across the country, from about 50 in 2005 to more than 3,100 today. Destination Distillery is the ultimate destination for those interested in planning a spirited journey or learning more about the heritage of distilling in the United States from George Washington’s distillery at Mount Vernon all the way to Koloa Rum in Lihue, Hawaii.
“Distillery tourism is not only an economic driver for craft distilleries, but a chance to connect with the local community and showcase regional flavors and stories with our customers,” said Alex Castle, master distiller at Augusta Distillery and chair of the DISCUS Craft Advisory Council. “At Augusta Distillery, we know how important the visitor experience is and are proud to offer a variety of opportunities for visitors to interact with our distillery from different tours to working alongside a distiller to experience the artistry of Bourbon making. Showcasing what we have to offer on Destination Distillery, is a great way to reach consumers we may have otherwise missed.”
Since the start of 2025, Destination Distillery has added nearly 20 new distilleries to their online community, providing consumers and distillers of all sizes an opportunity to connect.
Consumers have demonstrated a growing interest in booking spirits-focused trips, and distilleries have capitalized by providing experiences that offer a unique glimpse into different parts of the distilling process, including harvesting of raw materials, ageing of spirits and more.
“DISCUS proudly uses Destination Distillery as a way to showcase the experiences and products offered by distilleries across America’s diverse landscape,” said Chris Swonger, DISCUS president and CEO. “By showcasing distilleries large and small, Destination Distillery allows consumers to choose their own adventure, driving tourism to local regions and furthering the economic contributions all distillers make to their communities.”
