WASHINGTON, D.C. – An attractive new travel brochure, available free from the Distilled Spirits Council on the web or by mail, invites adult consumers to taste of bit of American history and culture touring the Bourbon Trail of Kentucky. The glossy brochure highlights four National Historic Landmark distilleries that offer guided public tours in central Kentucky including Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont; Labrot & Graham Distillery in Versailles; Maker’s Mark Distillery in Loretto; and Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg. Guests visiting each distillery enjoy an opportunity to get an up-close and personal look into the centuries old craft of Bourbon-making. Among the highlights of the various public tours are learning how Bourbon, a uniquely American spirit, is made and aged; viewing the distilling process from old-fashioned pot stills to the bottling process; viewing the art of barrel making; and exploring the lush grounds of historic distilleries. Some of the distilleries even offer a tasting and all have interesting gift shops containing bourbon-brand accessories. Copies of the brochure can be obtained through the Distilled Spirits Council website at www.distilledspirits.org/cocktail/tours.asp or by calling the Council directly at (202) 682-8840. “As people across the nation and the globe learn more about the heritage, culture and connoisseurship of Bourbon, whiskey tourism has greatly increased,” said Peter H. Cressy, President and CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council, the national trade association representing America’s favorite brands of distilled spirits. Kentucky’s Bourbon-producing region also boasts a widely attended annual Bourbon Festival in September and the Oscar Goetz Whiskey Museum in Bardstown.
