WASHINGTON, D.C., July 24, 2002 – The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, Inc., the national trade association representing producers and marketers of distilled spirits sold in the United States, has published an updated Summary of State Laws & Regulations Relating to Distilled Spirits. The 32nd edition of the Summary is a valuable reference tool for the beverage alcohol industry, state officials and members of the public. Divided into separate sections for control and license states, the publication provides state-by-state information on a wide range of laws, regulations, and rulings pertaining to the sale and distribution of distilled spirits in the United States. The Summary includes entries covering trade practices, promotional activities, advertising, retail sales channels, taxes and other state charges, licenses, wholesaler monopoly protection, local option, and other areas of state regulation. The new edition reflects changes in state laws subsequent to the publication of the 31st edition (January 2000) and provides additional categories of information, as well as citations to statutes, regulations, rulings and judicial decisions.
