County’s Alcohol Beverage Services will expand RTD access to private retailers in the county making these products available in more outlets for adult consumers
Today, the Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) expanded access to spirits ready-to-drink (RTD) products by allowing them to be sold at private retailers in the county where beer and wine are sold. Eligible licenses can apply for the privilege through the ABS.
“By allowing spirits-based RTDs to be sold where beer and wine are sold, Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services is increasing consumer convenience, supporting local businesses and boosting tax revenues in the county,” said Andy Deloney, Distilled Spirits Council of the United States Senior Vice President and Head of State Public Policy. “ABS Director Kathie Durbin and Montgomery County ABS are setting an example for others to follow by implementing this modernization and allowing consumers to find the products they want where they want them.”
This expansion adds about 400 more stores where spirits RTDs may be sold. Allowable spirits RTDs are defined as liquor-based products mixed with other nonalcohol liquids containing not more than 8% alcohol by volume in a single-serve container.
