Joel joins DISCUS from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and has experience in non-profit purchasing, the alcohol industry, as well as USDA program management. Joel received both his bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh in marketing and International Political Economy, respectively.

Joel’s favorite drink? I like to try new things, especially tasting the ways that people combine seemingly random flavors into a delicious cocktail – amazing. That being said, I love the peat smoke of an Islay Scotch.

Something you should know about Joel? Joel’s college job was a batboy for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He worked there from 2011-2015, the last time they made the playoffs, which may or may not be a coincidence.
