DISCUS Academy: Financing

Financial planning and problem-solving is a necessary step in any distillery’s success. This course provides a brief introduction to the fundamentals of finance. Key concepts and applications include time-value of money, risk-return tradeoff, cost of capital, interest rates, capital budgeting, and asset valuation. You will have the opportunity to apply learning outcomes to a wide variety of real-world situations as it relates to corporate finance decision-making.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Analyze business and financial conditions using appropriate problem-solving skills
2. Apply discounting and compounding arbitrary cash flow streams to value different claims and make better financial decisions
3. Evaluate financial information and non-financial information to appropriately assess business and financing opportunities
4. Construct long-range financial planning, implementation, and control systems that are adaptable to a business’ changing needs
5. Value a venture, project, or investment opportunity and perform a sensitivity analysis to evaluate different variables on investment returns
