WASHINGTON, DC – The Distilled Spirits Council (DISCUS) announced today that Agave Loco Brands of Highland Park, Illinois, a rapidly growing spirits producer has become the liquor industry organization’s 16th member. Agave Loco Brands’s portfolio includes Agave Loco Pepper-Cured Tequila, and its chief product RumChata, a rapidly growing rum cream brand.

“Agave Loco is a dynamic, growing company that has new and innovative high-quality products,” said DISCUS President and CEO Peter H. Cressy.  “Agave Loco shares our strong commitment to social responsibility and we’re pleased to welcome them to the Council.”

Tom Maas, Agave Loco Founder and Master Blender, said: “We are excited to join the Distilled Spirits Council, the leading voice of the industry, and play a role in developing responsible public policies for our customers, our employees and the entire distilled spirits industry.”

Although Agave Loco’s first product was their namesake Tequila, their skyrocketing growth has come about due to the overwhelming success of their RumChata brand, which has been credited by trade news sources as one of the fastest growing new products in the US spirits business over the last 4 years.

The Distilled Spirits Council is the national trade association representing America’s leading distillers and the vast majority of premium distilled spirits brands sold in this country. Since 1935, the Council and its predecessor organizations have served as the industry’s voice on public policy and legislative issues in the nation’s capital, state capitals and foreign capitals worldwide. A strong commitment to responsibility is the foundation of every aspect of its policy and programs.  For more information, visit www.distilledspirits.org.
