WASHINGTON, DC – The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) announced today that Campari America has joined the trade association, which is composed of most major producers and marketers of distilled spirits in the United States.

“We are pleased to announce that Campari America has joined the Distilled Spirits Council,” said DISCUS President and CEO Peter H. Cressy.  “Campari America is a top supplier in the US managing a premium portfolio that includes many popular and fast-growing products in this market, among them SKYY® Vodka, Wild Turkey® Bourbon, Wild Turkey American Honey®, Campari®, and Cabo Wabo® Tequila.  In addition, Campari shares DISCUS member companies’ strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and the three-tier system.”

Gerry Ruvo, Chairman and CEO of Campari America, said, “DISCUS is the global leader in advocating responsible public policy for the distilled spirits industry.   Given the significant role spirits manufacturing and sales plays in US commerce and today’s job market, we felt it important to join forces with DISCUS in support of one of America’s most valued, thriving industries.”

Campari America is a wholly owned subsidiary of Davide Campari-Milano S.p.A., which together with its affiliates (Gruppo Campari), comprise an international beverage powerhouse making it the sixth-largest spirits company in the world.  Campari America boasts a comprehensive portfolio of more than 25 brands, including award-winning vodkas, whiskies, cordials, liqueurs, rums, and cachaças.

At the heart of Campari America are two legends in the American spirits industry. The first, Skyy Spirits, was founded in San Francisco back in 1992 by the entrepreneur who invented iconic SKYY Vodka.  The second is the world-famous Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, where they have been making Bourbon since the 1800’s.  Both companies were purchased by Davide Campari-Milano and together they form Campari America.

The Distilled Spirits Council is the national trade association representing America’s leading distillers and approximately 80% of premium distilled spirits brands sold in this country. Since 1935, the Council and its predecessor organizations have served as the industry’s voice on public policy and legislative issues in the nation’s capital, state capitals and foreign capitals worldwide. A strong commitment to responsibility is the foundation of every aspect of its policy and programs.  Campari America becomes DISCUS’ 14th voting member.  In addition, it has 56 craft distiller affiliate members in 25 states.  For more information, visit: www.distilledspirits.org.
