Distilled Spirits Council Unveils “Cocktail Caucus Bar at 101”

Featuring Signature Cocktails by Renowned D.C. Mixologist LP O’Brien

WASHINGTON – Continuing the celebration of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States’ (DISCUS) 50th anniversary and the recent move to its new headquarters on Capitol Hill, the leading trade association for the spirits industry today announced the official name of its exclusive cocktail bar: “Cocktail Caucus Bar at 101.”

Chris Swonger, president and CEO of DISCUS and Responsibility.org, stated, “As we open the doors of our new headquarters overlooking the U.S. Capitol, it only felt fitting to honor our Capitol Hill location by naming our bar the ‘Cocktail Caucus Bar at 101.’ This space is more than just a bar, it’s a gathering hub for hospitality, advocacy and education that reflects our rich heritage and bright future.”

The bar features a bespoke cocktail menu crafted by LP O’Brien, a highly decorated and award-winning Afro-Boricua mixologist. A name synonymous with cocktail excellence in D.C. and beyond, O’Brien’s expertise in the spirits industry was recently recognized on the Netflix television series, Drink Masters, where she emerged as the winner.

“I’m honored to create the inaugural bar menu for DISCUS’ new office,” said O’Brien, who was awarded the 2023 Impact Award for Emerging Leaders at the DISCUS Annual Conference. “Throughout the hospitality industry, DISCUS is known as a strong advocate and defender of hospitality workers and businesses. DISCUS will now also be known for its delicious signature cocktails at the Cocktail Caucus Bar!”
