Austin, TX – Today more than 100 distillers, spirits executives and hospitality industry leaders came together in partnership with the national nonprofit Operation Gratitude, to express their thanks for those who serve by assembling packages containing snacks, comfort and hygiene products and personal letters of thanks from grateful Americans.

“The distilled spirits industry has a long history of giving back to communities across the country, and we are proud that our conference attendees are dedicating service time to  Texas Veterans and emergency responders at the Operation Gratitude event today, said Chris Swonger, President and CEO, Distilled Spirits Council and Responsibility.org.  “I’d like to give a special thanks to Love Titos for their leadership and dedication to philanthropy.”

With Veterans Day approaching this was the perfect time to come together to provide a tangible way to say thank you to those who selflessly serve our country.

“Today 5,000 care packages are being assembled for Service members and that wouldn’t have happened without the commitment of DISCUS and Responsibility.org to ensure the service and sacrifice of our men and women in the military is recognized and appreciated.  ” said  James Johnson, Maj Gen, USAF (Ret.) chief executive officer Operation Gratitude. “ And, with this in mind, we encourage Americans across the country to visit us at Operationgratitude.com to learn more about where they can volunteer…and have the kind of impact like we saw today.”

About Operation Gratitude:

Operation Gratitude is one of the largest and most impactful nonprofits in the country for hands-on volunteerism in support of military, veterans, and first responders. In March of 2003, Operation Gratitude sent its first four care packages to deployed service members in Iraq. Since its inception, the organization has encouraged millions of Americans to express their gratitude through hands-on volunteerism, in turn lifting the spirits of more than 3.4  million deployed troops, recruit graduates, veterans, military families, first responders and healthcare heroes. The volunteers of Operation Gratitude are a generous and spirited grassroots network of Americans joined in common cause to say “Thank You” to all who serve our great nation.
